(1) WHO released Global Cancer Burden Report.

  1. This report is released by international Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), the cancer agency of the World Health Organization (WHO).
  2. The report says that cancer is the second leading cause of deaths globally.
  3. According to the report, the occurence of cancer is as : lung cancer › female breast cancer > colono rectal cancer > prostate cancer.

(2) Mio Oka appointed Director of ADB India.

  1. ADB = Asian Development Bank
  2. ADB is a regional development bank established in 1966 with the objective of promoting social and economic development in Asia and the Pacific.
  3. It has 68 members; 49 are from within Asia and the Pacific and 19 outside. India is a founding member.
  4. Its headquarter is at Manila, Philippines.

(3) In Anti-Cheating Bill-24, paper leaking or tampering with answer sheets has been included in the category of crime.


(4) Uttarakhand became the first state to pass the historic Uniform Civil Code Bill.

  1. UCC = Uniform Civil Code
  2. This UCC Bill proposes uniform laws governing issues such as marriage, divorce and inheritance for all religions.
  3. This bill stipulates that the age of marriage in all communities will be 18 years for women and 21 years for men.

(5) 7th session of Codex Committee on Spices and Culinary Herbs (CCSCH) held in Kochi.


(6) Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan started “Vidyanjali Scholarship Programme”.

  1. Under this initiative, there is a system to provide uninterrupted education facilities to the resourceless meritorious students from secondary to higher education.
  2. This scholarship programme is a part of Vidyanjali program that was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of Shiksha Parv in September 2021.
  3. Vidyanjali program provides opportunities for communities and organizations and volunteers to connect with schools located in urban and rural areas.

(7) Telangana Football Association to host FIFA World Cup qualifier match for the first time in Hyderabad.

  1. The FIFA World Cup 2026, will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico and will start at the Estadio Azteca Stadium in Mexico City and end at the MetLife Stadium in New York, New Jersey on July 19, 2026.

(8) Rajasthan Education Department started ‘Bounce of Joy Programme.

  1. Its aim is to promote sports and nurture sports talent in schools of Rajasthan.

(9) Maharashtra government will launch ‘Mukhyamantri Vayoshri Yojana’ 2024.

  1. Under this scheme, citizens above 65 years of age will be screened and those found eligible will be given Rs 3,000.
  2. Around 15 lakh senior citizens who are suffering from any physical or mental disability are likely to get benefits.
