JKSSB Current Affairs February 2024

(1) Indian Air Force will organize ‘Vayu Shakti-2024’ exercise in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.

Remember that Vayushakti exercise has been going on since 1954.

(2) The Indian Navy has declared 2024 as the ‘Year of the Naval Civilians’ to improve the administration, efficiency and welfare of Naval Civilians by addressing all aspects of civilian human resource management in a time bound manner.

(3) China’s Grandmaster Wei Yi wins Wimbledon chess ‘Tata Steel Masters 2024.

It was the 86th edition of the Tata Steel Chess Tournament (also called Chess Wimbledon) and was held in Netherland.

It started in the year 1938.

(4) CMFRI (Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute) Kochi will develop fish meat in laboratory for the first time in India.

Cultured fish meat or lab-grown fish meat is produced by isolating specific cells from fish and growing them in a laboratory free of animal components. The final product will replicate the original taste, texture and nutritional properties of the fish.

(5) International conference of World Wetlands Day-24 was held in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

World Wetlands day is celebrated on 02 February each year, as Ramsar convention was adopted on this day in 1971.

Ramsar is a city in Iran.

Ramsar Convention defines wetlands as “areas of marsh, fen, peatland or water, whether natural or artificial, permanent or temporary, with water that is static or flowing, fresh, brackish or salt, including areas of marine water the depth of which at low tide does not exceed six metres”.

Aim of Ramsar Convention: To raise public awareness of wetland values and benefits promote the conservation and wise use of wetlands.

(6) Abhinav Bindra becomes torch bearer for 2024 Paris Olympics.

Bindra won the gold medal in the men’s 10 meter air rifle at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

(7) Ungalai Thedi, Ungal Oril’ scheme started in Tamil Nadu.

(8) Karnataka Government announces launch of ‘Digital Detox Initiative’ for responsible online gaming environment.

(9) BCCI Secretary Jay Shah appointed as President of Asian Cricket Council for the third time.

Points to remember about ACC

1. full form is Asian Cricket Council.

  1. ACC was formed as the Asian Cricket Conference on 19 September
    1983 in New Delhi, and then it was turned into a council.
  2. Its members are: India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, UAE, Nepal & China.
